PRIVATE WILDLIFE REFUGE
Fincas Naturales Wildlife Refuge is a 30 acre private refuge and nature exhibits with 1500 meters ( 4500 feet ) of trails, designed for all ages, conveniently located between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Fincas Naturales is currently researching and developing nature exhibits to help reproduce local species in danger of extinction, including orchids, bromeliads, reptiles (including caimans and crocodiles), and various butterfly species, including their hostplants which are being planted in the Refuge properties.
The refuge has developed three Butterfly Botanical Gardens, an impressive Aquatic Garden, and the new reptile exhibits. Fincas Naturales is living laboratory of nature conservancy, is example of sustainable development, where you will see a variety of Flora and Fauna, including monkeys, agoutis, and precious tropical hardwood trees. One of the most unique animals to observe here, is the titi or squirrel monkey (Siamiri oerstedii), which lives in a limited area in this region and is consider in danger of extinction. As a conservation project, the mission is the protection of the wildlife and the education of the public to better appreciate these natural resources we depend upon for our survival. The guided tours are in English or Spanish.
